This week we have been investigating what it would be like to be a Penguin in the Antarctic. We found out lots of interesting new facts and discovered what it would feel like living in the cold temperatures.
Our EYFS children went on polar trek, looking for polar bears and penguins. They had their warms coats, hats and scarves on and had a snowball fight, walked like penguins and had a sing-a-long too! Such a fun filled afternoon.
Our children in Year 1 & 2 made their own investigation into how and what it feels like to be a Penguin.
They timed how long they could hold their hands in a tub of ice cubes
Then they created a 'Blubber Glove' a thick warm coated glove made from butter, it feels like the 'Blubber' on a Penguins skin.
Blubber Gloves & Slime
Year 1 and 2 Managed to an ice bucket for 5 seconds
and then in our blubber glove the timings increased to 15 seconds
Year 3 & 4 also made blubber gloves and they had lots of fun making their own slime
